Frugal Friday’s Workwear Report: Crossover Front Knit Sweater

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

how to style a striped sweater for workStripes are often thought of as a classic, but I’m not a fan of the body-widening effect of horizontal stripes. So I really like this vertically striped sweater (which also comes in two solid colors, as well as a green/blue stripe). The crossover effect in the front looks great — sometimes they can look like nursing shirts gone wrong, or a DIY-kind of thing — and the price is great for a sweater for work with a “touch of cashmere:” $41. There are lots of lucky sizes left among the different colors, but something for everyone. And a styling note: If you worry about looking too much like a goalie in stripes, try pairing a collared blouse under it (I’m seeing a chambray or blue silk, for some reason) and even putting a blazer on top of that if temperatures permit. Here’s a similar plus-size option (also here).

Psst: Don’t you just hate when things go on sale mere days after you bought them? I just bought this ergonomic mouse for $20 at Amazon and today it’s down to $9 in a lightning deal. (I haven’t used it yet.) FYI!
